There are many reasons why people stop exercising. One of the main reasons is that they don’t feel good about themselves or they are too busy. They might think that they are not thin enough, fit enough, or stronger enough.
Another reason is that they are not motivated. If you can’t find a reason for doing something, it’s hard to keep doing it. There are certainly other reasons too, why people stop exercising. Some of them will be discussed in this blog.
1. You Are Not Financially Strong To Afford The Gym Membership.
Each one of us wants to be fit, but most of us don’t have time or money to join a gym. Membership in the gym is an expensive luxury that can be hard to justify. It’s no secret that gyms can be expensive. You pay for the membership fees, plus you have to shell out for a range of extras. And unfortunately, these days, many people are struggling to keep up with their bills.
Working out at home could be a great alternative to the gym, as it can save time as well as money. So, if you’re looking for a way to exercise without breaking the bank, here are several ways you can work out at home:
1. Do yoga on your own or with someone else.
2. Go running or jogging outside.
3. Get a workout DVD or app.
4. Use free weights or resistance bands.
5. Play sports such as tennis and badminton.
6. You can exercise with your body weight, without using any equipment. But keep in mind to make your workout session more productive and easygoing by wearing comfortable and sweat-absorbing athletic wear.
2. You Can’t See Any Transformation In Your Body.
If you are like other people, you probably spend a lot of time and energy exercising. But what happens when you don’t see any results? Do you give up or just keep yourself going? Research has shown that those individuals who exercise regularly are more likely to be successful in reaching their weight loss goals.
Most people have this misconception that if they do not see transformation in their body within a week or so, their efforts are futile and they should give up. This is completely wrong. Just because you can not see changes in the first few days doesn’t mean that nothing is happening inside your body. Your body needs some time to adapt to new exercises, so just be patient and do not get frustrated at the lack of visible results early on.
3. You Don’t Enjoy Doing Your Exercise.
When you don’t enjoy your exercise, it can be difficult to stick with it for the long term. But a workout is one of the best things you can do for your health.
“If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, the chances are good that you’re not going to keep doing it,” says Dr. Steven Novella, a neurologist at Yale University School of Medicine.
How can you make your workout more fun?
So how can you make working out more fun? Here are several ways to find a workout that fits your personality and interests:
1. Try something new.
If you’ve been doing the same boring routine for months or years, give something a different try. You can try swimming or dancing instead of running on the treadmill. Or you can join a group activity such as yoga or Pilates instead of going solo on your own time at home.
Or if you’ve always liked walking outside in nature, you can look into joining a hiking club or taking a hike once a week.
2. Find your exercise partner.
Find a workout buddy for exercising. Having someone to work out with is good motivation, and it could be fun to work out with your friends or spouse.
3. Listening to music.
Music can get your heart rate up, especially when you are performing cardio or strength training exercises. Also, you can enjoy doing exercise, while listening to your favorite soundtrack.
4. Be creative with your exercise plan.
You can make your exercise more interesting with creativity. You can start by switching up the days of the week. Change up your equipment or incorporate something new into your workout such as weights or cardio machines.
Also, as I discussed before that, to make your workout session more convenient and fun, you need to wear stretchable and lightweight gym workout clothes. Remember that, if your workout clothes are easygoing your workout session will be more productive.
When you have the responsibility of kids
If you are a parent, you know what it is like to be busy. Between your work and home, there is rarely enough time to get everything done. According to a study by the University of Michigan Health System, only 30 percent of moms get a regular workout.
The common explanation for the lack of exercise among women is that women are too busy with their kids’ activities and other obligations.
So how do you fit exercise into your busy schedule? Here are a few tips for staying consistent when you have kids:
Daycare centers.
Try to get yourself enrolled in the gym that provides the facility of daycare and do a lot of exercising.
Wake up early
Wake up early, go for a walk outside if it is possible, and then spend some time with your kids before they leave for school.
Work out at night.
If you have trouble getting up early in the morning to squeeze in exercise before work, try working out at night instead after everyone else has gone to bed.
4. You Might Have Body Inflammation.
A lot of people have an aversion to workout when they have some inflammation or soreness. And this looks like a problem because inflammation is often part of the equation when it comes to weight gain, heart disease, or diabetes risk factors.
But if the inflammation is because you are a beginner and your body is just getting adaptive to the workout, then you need to start low-impact exercises such as walking, or yoga or try to exercise at a moderate intensity.
